“The story will focus on Kung Fury’s universe with no real connection to the short movie other than the lead character”.

Stockholm-based filmmaker David Sandberg’s sensational ’80s-themed short action movie was released in 2015. Sandberg’s idea developed its initial momentum when he launched a Kickstarter campaign for his “Kung Fury” and uploaded a trailer for the concept that caught people’s attention. Within 24 hours, he had raised $200,000 and by the end of the campaign one month later, Sandberg had raised $630,000 from 17,713 backers.

Movie sets us back in 1985. With visuals reminiscent of both a worn VHS tape and old arcade game Kung Fury, the toughest cop in Miami has to travel back in time to kill the ultimate criminal of all time Kung Führer (Adolf Hitler). It is pretty hard to categorise it solely as a martial arts flick due to loads of gun battles, robot rampages, dinosaurs and ancient gods. However thisamazing work of cinematic genius feels like typical ’80s action film. And like every good move from that time it has to have catchy theme song. The True Survivor sung by David Hasselhoff has over 30 million views on YouTube – almost two millions more than movie itself. If You haven’t you seen Kung Fury yet do it. It’s free. Enjoy.
